That way WE get the customization options we desperately crave, the developers of the apps would still get their money, and Blizzard devs would never have to lift a finger. Solution? Just hire the handful of people who make the addons, let them work on making those things default, then keep cutting them a paycheck. So really, if we could just have a better default UI customizability, I could just get rid of Bartender and Deja, and to go even further, we could get rid of Gathermate too. Gathermate I only have for like three characters, and recount is super useful to help me make sure I am not holding things back. I have dbm turned off almost all the time. I dont think this is what OP asked, using bartender or ElvUI profiles will only move/change the location of the bars, but not the spells on the bars. I know it is anecdotal, but I do not know a single person, both irl, in game, or even streamers, who use the default UI for teh game.
I agree that the interface is quite dated but like I said, it works and you can add a lot of bars and keybinds so I’ll let it slide. With Elvui I only had to do that once and I don’t have to worry about all the different add-ons being out of date/abandoned/conflicting etc.The default ui works well enough for the majority of people. That being said, for me it was worth it to just get used to Elvui because I really dislike spending hours setting up a UI which I have to do if I actually want to be satisfied with it. If there is something you see someone using elvui doing there is most likely a way to achieve the same result through different methods. There is no single part of elvui that cannot be achieved through combinations of other add-ons/Weakauras. ElvUI can do everything bartender do, but if you dont like ElvUI design you can just use bartender. If you’re willing to set up what you need without Elvui you’re more than fine though. ElvUI is a complete interface re-design with a lot of features. It’s incredibly convenient if you ever have to set up your UI from scratch for whatever reason. The main benefit is that it contains the majority of UI add-ons that everyone uses in one place. I can’t really make up my mind on it, but I still use it and only it currently so idk, haha. There are just enough really nice features to elvui that keep me coming back to it. That typically means moving, adding and removing certain UI elements. The default interface has been modified to allow us to move more, and there are thousands of addons out there, so you can probably find an addon to duplicate anything ElvUI does without having to use the entire ElvUI to do it if you aren’t going to be using many of the modifications of ElvUI.Īll that’s really “necessary” is that you have easy visibility of the information you need. It’s also popular for it’s visual modifications giving the UI a cohesive, more modern look, but, of course, that’s simply preference.Īlmost everything that ElvUI does can be done other ways. The little arrows that used to be next to the action bar that let me switch are no longer there. Then, it’s important to get the rest of the information away from that area so that it is FAR easier to notice when something important is happening, or about to happen. I have a druid and my action bar will not switch when I change forms. Especially when it is stressful, it is important to have the critical information close to where your eyes are going to be most of the time. There’s a lot of them that aren’t that helpful, but there are a few that explain good reasons to move large portions of the UI.Ī lot of it comes down to your field of vision.
